Tactikal Introduction
Ossan McKenzie, more widely known as Tactikal was born on June 17, 1991, in Jamaica. He lives in Stony Hill, St,
Andrew. After graduating from Kingston Technical High school he took some time to determine his next steps in life. He has been involved in music since the age of 13.
Magnum Kings and Queen
It wasn’t until 2011, at the age of 20, that he decided to take his music serious by entering a popular national talent showpiece called Magnum Kings and Queens. During his time on the show, he was able to get a great response from the crowd and the judges, most notably Miss Kitty. Though he did not win the competition, Tactikal said ” This only the beginning. The journey did not stop there for me. I gained great knowledge just
from being there. I took what I learned and continued to perfect my skills and grow in my music. I will always cherish the opportunity that I was given to showcase my talent on such a great stage.”
In that same year, he met Neutron Obliv, a very talented artist/engineer. It was Neutron who taught Tactikal how to flow melodically along with his already lyrical genius. This resulted in early recordings such as “Dem Nuh Real” and “Dem a Fren Killa” which created a buzz in the ears of Jamaica.
Rising Star
He has performed alongside artists like Alkaline, Kalado, Specialist and Major Mackeral. Tactikal was also featured in a
Dancehall Documentary for one of Korea’s biggest networks, KBS Broadcasting who journeyed to Jamaica from Seoul,
Korea. This highlight for the rising entertainer was followed by write-ups in both the Jamaica Gleaner and The Jamaica
Star.
Tactikal realized after some trials that if he wanted to balance the demands of being a dad and have his music reach higher levels that he would have to take his career into his own hands. He then put together a team that diligently created a new level of recognition on the web. Gaining fans of his music around the globe in places like Africa, Asia, US, Canada and other Caribbean islands.
