Upsetta Films is a versatile independent production company that was founded in 2011 by Upsetta International Sound System members Selector Dubee and DJ Chancellor in Burlington, VT.
As time progressed within the Upsetta movement, the video production aspect came to light and they began to branch out into not only shooting the videos, but writing the treatments as well. Long time friend and member of the Upsetta International Sound System, DJ Chancellor had just finished taking Film classes in Rhode Island and was more than willing to spearhead the birth and tutor Selector Dubee (who had attended university for Theater) on the filming/editing process. Soon after the Upsetta Film Unit was created, the crew brought Jamaican Reggae artist Fyakin to Burlington, VT to film Upsetta’s very first Music Video – “Old Vibes,” as featured on the Bomboflow Riddim.
The rest as they say, is history.
In 2012, long time friend and creative genius Original King of Original King Clothing went to Jamaica with Dante and Dubee to record new footage for Upsetta Records and to film various music videos, including “Stars R Us (Melloquence)” and “Ruff Inna Di Gideon” by Jah Thunder (Bomboflow Riddim). While in Jamaica, Upsetta’s work ethic, professionalism and unique creative genius was evident to artists and onlookers and the praises were constant. It became very clear that Upsetta Films was born out of necessity and into a flourishing business.
Since then, Upsetta Films’ reputation has continued to grow internationally and the talented team of Dubee, Original King and Chancellor have been working stronger and better than ever. Over the past few years, Upsetta Films has produced, directed and edited videos for upcoming artists such as Cario, Boom Dekka, Senita Mogul, Bobby Hustle, King Lorde, Yello Stone and Cactus Attack as well as for Industry Superstars such as ZJ Liquid, Xyclone & Beenie Man, Thriller U & Capital D, Kali Blaxx, Delly Ranx, Natural Black, Raine Seville, Lisa Hyper. Additionally, Dubee of Upsetta Films has finished production on his very first animated Music Video for Reggae Superstar, Perfect Giddimani!
To date, the majority of Upsetta Films’ works have been performed on the North East coast of the USA & in Jamaica; mostly relating within the Reggae/ World Music industry and range from music videos, live show performance, and promotional material. Recently, Chancellor has relocated to India and thus the Upsetta Films’ Family has not only expanded into another country, but will also be expanding into different styles of works and videos as well!
